yeah im not the best at melodys either. I just mess around until I find something catchy tbh. best tip I can give you is try and make a melody and then find an instrument that goes well with it. sometimes I listen to a song and try and remake to melody from just hearing it but it usually doesn't come out the same and I just have basically a brand new melody lol.
